This group exhibition aims to explore and challenge notions about the human perceptions of reality. We sleep for nearly one third of our life, and every night we dream. This other world helps us to define our existence, bringing to light fears, wishes, anxieties, goals and meanings. Dismissed by some as mere accidents of the imagination, or regarded as mysterious messages from another place, these visual symbols that our mind creates can heighten our awareness and provide a deeper understanding of ourselves.
We all perceive the world around us through our own set of filters and view points. All the things that we think we know occupy space in our thoughts. This storage of memories, experiences, stories and relationships, blend with forces from outside of our control, in turn manifesting a perception of what is real. Whether its on a conscious or unconscious level, the dream world becomes another place, undefinable in time and physicality.
The artwork in this exhibition deals with various ideas surrounding existence, reality and perception.
